“There’s nothing wrong with being happy. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying something so much that it strips away all that irony and cynicism. And there’s nothing wrong with loving anything so much that it feels like it could pull your heart out of your chest and toss it on the floor. We build ourselves up to not do that, and then we build up the armor so thickly that we have trouble finding what’s underneath. We use that as an excuse to lash out at people who do feel stuff, who do like things (and I am, of course, mostly saying this about myself). It’s hard sometimes to remember that the world isn’t a place to glide through, so nothing can touch you. It’s a place to be experienced.” — Todd VanDerWerff  (via monkeyknifefight)

Well…that was weird.

  • I was greeted at Z-Burger like a regular (I don’t frequent Z-Burger; the last time I was there was…early spring semester?)
  • It was loud so I couldn’t understand the cashier (oh and I do tend to get this cashier any time I do go, but again, I rarely go to Z-Burger)
  • He kept saying something about my receipt and I didn’t understand
  • And then I noticed he had given me a discount
  • And then he shook my hand and said, “Thank you.”
  • And then I got my food literally 5 sec. after I ordered it (which was much faster service than the people ahead of me in line).

hogwarts-ahistory replied to your photo: ZERO AMOUNT OF WORK GETTING DONE. (also I wore…

I’m feeling like a fairly worthless employee right now. BUT WHATEVER IT’S HARRY POTTER DAY IT’S HARRY POTTER DAY.

It makes it worse that I’m the only one in the office wih my boss not here.

Also: I just took a 15 minute nap.

A few stories from today:

  • You know what’s awkward?  When someone offers their seat on the bus and you refuse, but then you agree because the guy says his stop is up soon.  AND YOU HAVE A 15-20 MINUTE BUS RIDE AND YOUR STOP IS BEFORE HIS.  Ugh, I felt like an ass.
  • It stopped raining in time for me to walk to Georgetown.
  • In fact, it was quite sunny and obviously humid.
  • And I was going to take the bus to Safeway, but I had a feeling the bus was going to take a while, so I decided to walk since it was only 0.6 miles.  Even though I already had all my work stuff with me.
  • And I was right, because no buses passed by me on way up Wisconsin.
  • I decided that, yes, I would make butterbeer cupcakes.
  • And when I commit, I commit.
  • BUT THE BUTTER IMITATION EXTRACT KILLED ME, YOU GUYS. $5.69!?! UGH.
  • And Safeway doesn’t have cream soda?  OK.  But I said, fuck it, I’m going to Whole Foods anyway, I know they’ll have it.
  • They did.  Except I had to buy six cans for $4.  Also, the main reason I still went to Whole Foods instead of just taking the bus back to my apt from Safeway and settling on Giant?
  • Whole Foods has the cheapest butter.  Anywhere.  $2.99!  Andmy it used to be $2.50! Can you believe that Whole Foods would have the cheapest anything?Things I learned last year.
  • And now I’m enjoying a Chinese tofu dish.
  • And then I’m going to make those cupcakes.  And watch DH part 1.
  • Oh yeah and my boss found out that I’m a big Harry Potter nerd.
